Safety & Health in Dominica

Dominica is one of the safest Caribbean islands, with low crime rates and friendly locals. However, as with any destination, it’s wise to take precautions:
Avoid isolated areas at night.
Keep valuables secure, especially in crowded markets.
Be mindful when hiking, as some trails are rugged and remote.

Health-wise:

Tap water is generally safe to drink.
No major health risks, but mosquito repellent is recommended due to occasional dengue outbreaks.
There are well-equipped hospitals in Roseau and Portsmouth.
