Culture & History of Namibia

Namibia’s rich cultural tapestry is woven from its diverse ethnic groups, including the Ovambo, Herero, Himba, and San people. Each group contributes unique traditions, crafts, and social practices. The country’s history is marked by German colonization in the late 19th century, evident in the colonial architecture of cities like Windhoek and Swakopmund. Post World War I, Namibia came under South African administration until gaining independence in 1990. Today, Namibia celebrates its heritage through various cultural festivals and the preservation of historical sites.
